2002 News Updates

12.21.02
Not too much going on right now. The 96 GT has the new Pro-M Blow Through Univer MAF and the Vortech Max Flow Race bypass valve installed. Boost is now vented to atmosphere before the intercooler instead of being recirculated. While I was installing the new parts I decided to switch from the SlugBitch 6-Rib setup to a killer 8-Rib configuration to help relieve belt slippage in the upper RPM range. A gentleman by the name of Nate sent me a Ford Part list that has the Ford Pickup Truck 8-Rib part numbers. I have acquired a few of the pulleys so far and when I get the rest the car will make its way back onto the chassis dyno for some fine tuning. Below is a part list and an estimated cost for each pulley. If you go the Ford pulley route the total cost is approx $250 which is 1/2 the cost of the Steeda 8-Rib conversion kit.

Name Ford Part Number Cost
Alternator pulley GP-720 $20.84
Power steering pulley XL3Z-3A733-AA $16.63
A/C Clutch pulley YB-522 $71.48
Tensioner 1L3Z-6B209-AA $42.30
Crank pulley XL3Z-6312-CA $60.82
Idler pulley YS-250 $19.66
Water pump pulley F6TZ-8509-AA $18.05

Total

  $249.78

Sorry for the long over due update. I have spent a lot of time re-encoding all the Racing Clips and putting them into the Windows Media Format (.wmv) so you don't need to install the Divx codec to watch them. The Windows Media Format allowed me to reduce the size of the current clips to ease the time it takes to download. I also made a High Octane and Low Octane version of all the clips. The Low Octane version is for those of you that have a SlugBitch dial-up connection and don't want to wait for the longer download. Obviously the Low Octane video quality sucks...so upgrade your shit to Cable/DSL or some other form of broad band and get off that SlugBitch dial-up.

Other news...I made some changes to the layout and added a Misc Stuff section. This section will contain items that do not fit under any of the main headings or are Non-Car related (i.e. Mullets). I have tested most of the links, however I may have missed a few. If you find any dead links on the site please E-Mail me.

Detroit Street Cars makes history as being the first Web site to be featured as SBOTM (Slug Bitch of The Month). It earns the honors due to the SlugBitch site updates. DSC's site update intervals are more pathetic than mine lately. Last updated 3/16/02.

The 96GT made it to the track twice since the last update. The first outing was to the Dirtway in Lapeer where I was able to pull a 12.43 @ 119mph on Radials. The second outing was at the FME track rental were I pulled off an 11.80 @ 117 on DOT tires.

For those of you that don't read the NMRA Race Pages...SBR was mentioned in regards to the Rental Abuse link I have in the Misc Stuff section. Check it out.

7 new Racing Clips have also been added. 2 are of an In-Car Cam of a wild 7 second pass the next 3 are of the 96GT layin the smack down on a blown 98 Cobra at the Dirtway. The last 2 clips are from a 100° day at Beechbend Raceway this past summer. The below links are the High Octane versions so...if you are on a SlugBitch connection click your way over to the Low Octane section.

Well...where did August go? I picked up the 96 GT on Friday from Livernois Motorsports. The car is now sporting a brand new, out of the box, set of SVO 2V heads, Mod Max valve springs, and a super secret Paxton Air-to-Air intercooler. The car feels faster but only the track will tell. I plan on making a trip to the local drag strip in the next few weeks and will report back with some time slips.

I also picked up a new tow vehicle a few weeks ago. A 2003 Eddie Bauer Expedition. This is the nicest truck I have ever driven. I opted for the 4 Captain Chairs, DVD Entertainment Center, and the Navigation System. The GPS and the power fold down 3rd room seating is pretty slick.

Motor and trans is back in the 89 and ready to go. I still need to finishing wiring in the new  F.A.S.T. before I can start the car. 3 more wires and it will run. Damage report  is  in on the 2V Mod motor....the driver side head is cracked from the lifter all the way down to the combustion chamber on cylinder 3. Friday I will take the head to the welder  to  see if it can be repaired.  This weekend should be fun...Can't  wait  to make the traditional test drive to the beer store in the 89.

06.14.02

The motor is ready to be dropped in. I picked up the last of the misc pieces today and the motor will be dropped in next weekend. Below are a few pics of my latest Bolt-On. This should make its way onto the engine mid season, maybe sooner. I will be dropping this off at the machine shop to enlarge the inlet to accommodate my Acufab 90mm TB.

06.06.02 - Update

Dyno number are in! 1010.3 HP @ 7000rpm and 801.3 ft/tq @ 6300rpm while only pumping out 21 pounds of boost. The motor has a very conservative tune-up with 23 Degrees of total timing and air fuel at 11.5:1. The motor is home and ready to go into the car. Stay tuned...I also want to thank Dan, Rick, Eric, and all the other guys at Livernois Motorsports for getting my shit straightened out. They run a top notch Operation over there. They get TWO thumbs up from me!

Here is a long over due update... Took the 96 to the 6th Annual #ford GTG (Get-To-Gether) in Bowling Green, KY. We rent an entire Motel out from Thursday till Sunday. We party every day and on Saturday morning we rent the track at Beech Bend Raceway. The weather was not ideal for racing...97 Degrees with 100% humidity. IT WAS HOT!!! The car went a best of 12.75 @ 115mph on the radial tires and 12.17 @ 114mph on the ET Streets. It should also be noted that the car now spits oil out the tail pipes. When the diagnosis is determined I will post the results. The motor for the 89 is sitting on the engine dyno awaiting some final custom tweaking before it gets fired up today. I will also have numbers and graphs as soon as I get them. Below is  a burnout out and a pass with server tire spin. You will need to download and install Divx 5.0.x to view.

04.29.02                                                                                                                                         I found some old school pics of my very first Mustang. It was a rare 84 1/2 GT. Not the GT350, but it had everything else but that anniversary package. This is the car that started it all for me. After the first test drive I was hooked and have owned a Mustang every day of my life since I was 17 years old. Unfortunately, this car was Sooooooo fast it was stolen twice. Obviously, I got it back the first time, with minor damage, the second time....well...they found the transmission 8 years later.

I also made a couple Movie Clips of the 96GT on the dyno from back in November. You will need to download and install the latest Divx Codec for Windows Media Player. Divx 5.0.2 can be downloaded here.

04.12.02                                                                                                                                         Its was a very nice Spring day yesterday, so I took the opportunity to install a few of the new billet parts that have been sitting in a box for the 96.

Before               After

I also installed the new aluminum blower discharge tube in hopes that it will solve my problem of the discharge tube blowing off under high boost conditions.

03.31.02                                                                                                                                         I know...I know...It's been well over a month without any updates. A lot has been going on in my life lately and the majority of my time has been devoted to the family. With the addition to our new Daughter, Cameron, free time has been spent trying to relax before the next feeding or diaper change. Anyways...yesterday was a warm sunny day and I took the opportunity to get some work done on the 89s motor. Unfortunately, I did not get as far as I would of liked, due to missing parts and several runs to the parts store. I did manage to get the heads on and torqued. Below are a few pics of the motor on the engine stand during the head install.

I also had my buddy lend me his Spyder Intake based off the Edelbrock Super Victor carb intake to mock up and test fit. I am going to test this intake out on the dyno in the next few weeks along side my TFS-R intake. Take a look at the pics.

02.18.02                                                                                                                                       If you haven't noticed www.CMYLXGO.com has moved to a new domain name. SlugBitchRacing.com will be the new home of the 8 second 89LX Street Monster and the 96GT 10 second daily (Summer) driver. As for car related news...the 89s motor is going to sport a F.A.S.T. engine management system instead of the tried and true        EEC-IV that was installed at the factory. The F.A.S.T. system will allow me to data log and monitor my Air Fuel ratio. All the old EEC-IV related hardware is now on eBay for sale. The auctions end February 24th, 2002. Click here to see a list of my old junk that's for sale on eBay.

2.03.02                                                                                                                               Added some UPR Billet actcents to the 96 Gt the other day along with a dash overlay. Nothing new has happened with the 89 LX...the motor is still wrapped waiting for the heads and intake to be bolted up. The cold weahter and the snow are a very strong deterant to work on it. Below is a before and after shot of the guage overlay.

Before                  After

1.16.01                                                                                                                              Nothing new to report. I checked the stack up height on my Powerglide and found that it was correct. However, the 3 piece JW flywheel looks to be the culprit to my thurst bearing problem. The center hub looks to be wrong or was't machined correctly. If I get a chance I will take some pictures and post them here. I plan to have the motor and trans in the car by Valentines Day becuase thats when my wife is due with our 2nd child. Once the kid comes, I wont have much time to spend on the car before the first race in March down in Bradenton, FL.
